Obituary
Daniel Peterson December 13, 1969-July 16, 2016 Dan, age 46, went home to be with the Lord Saturday evening, July 16, 2016. He was at home with his wife Melissa and a few friends at his side. Dan was born in Breckinridge Minnesota and grew up in Wahpeton, North Dakota. He enjoyed playing many sports in High School, but especially football and wrestling. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a bachelors degree in mortuary science. He moved to Alaska in 1993 with his wife Melissa and their one year old son, Zach. Dan worked for Evergreen memorial chapel for 2 years. Dan & Melissa went on to having 2 more children, Olivia, and Jesse. Dan then became a police officer with APD and worked as a police officer for 8 years until a motor cross accident in June of 2003 left him paralyzed as a quadriplegic. Despite that, Dan went back to work for the police department, working in records for 5 years. After being medically retired from APD Dan was working on pursuing a masters degree in counseling. He came so close to finishing but was unable due to hospitalizations and medical setbacks. Dan faced many challenges in the last 13 years as a quadriplegic but he faced them with courage and dignity. He never lost his sense of humor and his compassion for others and their needs. He will be missed dearly by his wife and children Zach, Olivia, and Jesse along with many other friends and family. There will be a celebration of life on Friday, July 22 at Community Covenant church in Eagle River with a viewing from 3-4 and a service from 4-5 pm.
