Obituary
Orville H. Popp
Orville H. Popp, 73, rural Wahpeton, died Saturday, Feb. 26, at Breckenridge. The funeral was today (Monday) at Wahpeton United Methodist Church, Rev. Norman Winkelman officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
Casket bearers were grandchildren, Debbie, Dawn, Tammy and Terry Popp, Tanja Hanson, and Fabienne Nendaz.
He was born Dec. 18, 1909 in Center Township, rural Wahpeton, to Paul and Alvina (Beling) Popp. He attended school in Center Township. He married Myrtle Canham Sept. 20, 1931 at Wahpeton. They farmed in Center Township for one and one-half years and then purchased a farm in Summit Township where they continued to live. This past winter they resided in Breckenridge.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Great Bend, holding several church offices. He joined the Wahpeton Methodist Church several years ago.
Survivors include his wife, two sons, Paul, rural Wahpeton; Charles, Marietta, Ga.; five grandchildren, and one AFS granddaughter in Switzerland; three sisters and one brother, Mrs. Ruby Popp and Mrs. Alva Scheller, both of Hankinson; Mrs. Ellner Peterson, Tigard, Ore.; and Dellwood, Kent, Wash.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
