Obituary
Donald "Don" Simonson, 75
Donald "Don" Lyle Simonson, 75, Erhard, Minn., died Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, at the Otter Tail Nursing Home.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at Olson Funeral Home Chapel, Fergus Falls, Minn. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton, N.D.
Don was born on July 15, 1930, in Wahpeton, the son of Andrew and Cecil (Anderson) Simonson. He was baptized and confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton.
After his schooling, he worked construction.
In 1946 he entered the U.S. Army and was stationed in the Pacific.
He was honorably discharged from the service in 1950 and returned to North Dakota to work construction.
On Sept. 1, 1951, he married Doris A. Berg in Webster, S.D. The couple lived in Hudson, S.D., where they owned and operated a Mobile Service Station until 1964 when they moved to Mounds View, Minn.
In 1973 the couple moved to Breckenridge, Minn., and since 1995 they resided in rural Erhard.
He enjoyed fishing, driving around sightseeing, playing card games and dominos.
He especially loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by three sons: Donald Jr., Hudson, S.D., Ronald, rural Erhard, John (Mildred), rural Fergus Falls; 16 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; five sisters: Mildred (Mike) McManigal, Mesa, Ariz., Gloria (Al) Kise, Mesa, Darlene (Gerold) Dickerson, Mesa, Mary (Leon) Gebro, Wahpeton, Cathy Birchum, Moorhead, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris, who died in 2002; a son, Robert, who died in 1996; one sister and four brothers, two that died in infancy.
