Harvey E. Sanborn

Harvey E. Sanborn, 70, Breckenridge, died Saturday, March 27 at his home. The funeral will be at 10:30 Tuesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Ernest Bartels officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.

Visitation is this afternoon and evening (Monday) with a prayer service at 7:30 at Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home Chapel. There will also be visitation at the church for the hour prior to the service.

He was born Jan. 28, 1912 to Thomas and Marie (Looter) Sanborn at Breckenridge. In 1930 he began work for the Great Northern Railroad, now the Burlington Northern, as a conductor, until his retirement in 1975. He married Wilma Houghtaling, Feb. 16, 1935 at Wahpeton. They lived in Wahpeton and moved to Breckenridge 19 years ago.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainsmen, and the Railroad Veterans.

Surviving include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. James (Ann) McGarry, Big Fork, Minn., Mrs. James (Barbara) Jones, Moorhead; a brother, Clifford, Breckenridge; a sister, Mrs. Deeha Braun, Fort Wayne, Ind.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Honorary casket bearers will be Julian Olson, T.L. Spoonheim, Howard Rothwell, Lloyd Keech, Ben Olson, Steve Rensvold, and Wally Return.

Active casket bearers will be Ron Helgeson, Jim Milne, Al Ready, Jerry Solien, Loren Tetzlaff, and Lowell Hooge.
