Obituary
Helen Schillinger
Helen Schillinger, 85, Wahpeton, formerly Breckenridge, died Thursday, June 30, at St. Francis Hospital. The funeral service was today (Tuesday) at Breckenridge Lutheran Church with the Rev. Julian Erickson officiating. Burial is in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
Casket bearers were Mark, Terry, and Robert Schillinger, Gary and Joe Welharticky, and Frank and Ralph Pierce.
Helen Welharticky was born April 5, 1898 to Joseph and Mary (Jirak) Welharticky at Breckenridge. She attended local schools and later cooked for the threshing crews in this area. She married Ben Schillinger Nov. 12, 1923 at Breckenridge. They farmed at Fairmount until 1938, when they moved to Breckenridge. Her husband died in 1974. She later moved to the Leach Home and in 1961 to the Wahpeton Health Care Center.
She was a seamstress for over 50 years.
Survivors include one son, Donald, Minnetonka; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Alice Pierce and Mrs. Stanley (Libby) Rezac, Breckenridge; two brothers, Frank Welharticky, Breckenridge; and Edward Welharticky, Wahpeton.
Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, was in charge of arrangements.
