Obituary

Harold Schreiber was born February 28, 1920 in Stanton, North Dakota to Otto and Rickey (Eger) Schreiber. After high school, Harold joined the Navy in 1942 and was proud to serve his country during WWII. It was during this time he met a beautiful young lady named Ruth Hoff from Dawson, North Dakota. In December, 1944 they were married at the EUB Church in Tappen, North Dakota. They lived in Corpus Christi, Texas until his honorable discharge in October of 1945, when they moved to Bismarck, ND where Harold took a job with Oscar H. Will Company, a local nursery where he fell in love with gardening.

Harold and Ruth moved to Wahpeton, ND in 1961. Harold worked maintenance and grounds keeping at NDSCS. He was known for his skillful landscaping, especially the meticulously maintained flower beds throughout the college campus. After 24 years at NDSCS, Harold retired to his hobbies of fishing, flea markets and his grandchildren. Harold was an avid sports fan who religiously watched the Twins, Vikings and the Red Hawks. He also loved listening to local high school sports and could recite highlights from every game. In 2007 he took residence in Twin Town Villa in Breckenridge, MN where he enjoyed visiting with many of his neighbors.

Harold is survived by his daughter, Kathryn (Ervin) Dye of Breckenridge, MN; his grandchildren, Steven (Alison) Dye, Shawn (Shannon) Dye, and Shannon (Maurice) Shell all of West Fargo; and his nine great-grandchildren. Harold is also survived by a sister, Grace Kilber of Bismarck, North Dakota.

He is preceded in death by his wife Ruth, his parents, his brothers, Arthur and Roy Schreiber, and his sister, Laura Jirokowik.
