Obituary

Forest E. Selzer, 67, Fargo, formerly Wyndmere, died Monday, Feb. 24, 1986, at the Americana Health Care Center, Fargo. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Wynd-mere, with the Rev. Arley Ellingson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Presentation of the American flag will be by the Wyndmere American Legion. Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening and Thursday until 11 a.m. at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home Chapel and at the church prior to the services. A prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Forest Elus Selzer was born Dec. 17, 1917, at Wyndmere to John and Lena (Vosberg) Selzer. He was raised and attended schools in Wynd-mere Township. He served in the Army in World War II in the European-Africian-Middle Eastern Theatre. He received a purple heart for injuries in action. After service he returned to Wyndmere where he farmed. He married Elizabeth Nagel in 1947 and they farmed at Wyndmere. She died in 1971. In 1975 he married Avis McMichael and they farmed at Wyndmere until 1985 when they moved to Fargo. He entered the Americana Medical Center four months ago. Surviving are his wife, Avis; two sons and two daughters, Ronald Selzer, Wyndmere; Steven Selzer, Monument, Colo.; Mrs. John (Susan) Solberg, Shreveport, La.; and Mrs. Scott (Sandra) Reed, Fargo; one brother, Glen Selzer, Atascadero, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Lawrence (Edith) Fox, Dixon, Neb.; and Mrs. Ervin (Marion) Dockter, Bismarck; and 11 grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
