Gerald Tetzlaff

Gerald (Gerry) A. Tezlaff, 45, Wahpeton, died Monday, March 8, at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge. The funeral will be at 11 Thursday at United Church of Christ Congregational, Wahpeton, with Rev. Stephen Hanning officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.

Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening at Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home Chapel and for the hour prior to the service at the church.

He was born Feb. 27, 1937 to Adolph and Lottie (Gunderian) Tetzlaff at Breckenridge. He attended Breckenridge public schools until his junior year in high school. He graduated from high school at the Sheyenne River Academy in 1965 at Harvey, N.D. He entered the U.S. Army in 1956 and served as a military policeman and was stationed in Germany until his discharge in 1959.

He married Sharon Taletta Smith Dec. 22, 1962 at Wahpeton. They resided at Rugby, N.D., where he worked for an implement dealer. In 1964 he transferred to Feneis Implement, Mooreton. He then worked for the Mooreton Elevator for 12 years. During that time he became a restauranteur and with his wife opened the Last Chance Steak House in Mooreton. It burned to the ground in 1980.

He relocated his family to Wahpeton where he worked for D & D Machining for a year. At the time of his death he was employed at Ro-Banks in Wahpeton.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Steve, Loren and Donald, all at home; two daughters, Pamela and Lynn, both at home; his father, Adolph, Breckenridge; a brother, Duane, Richfield, Minn.; and a sister, Mrs. Ray (Donna) Martens, Breckenridge. He was preceded in death by his mother.
