Stephen W. Thompson

Stephen W. Thompson, 44, Chicago, formerly rural Walcott, died Sunday, May 8, at Chicago. The funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Antelope United Methodist Church, rural Mooreton.

Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 7-9 p.m. with a prayer service at 8 p.m. at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Thursday until 11 a.m. at the funeral chapel and the church one hour prior to the service.

Stephen Wayne Thompson was born July 22, 1937, at Walcott to Raymond and Gladys (Anderson) Thompson. He attended rural schools at Nansen and Antelope Consolidated School. He graduated from Bismarck High School in 1955. He attended the University of North Dakota-Grand Forks. He served in the U.S. Army in Thailand. After discharge from the service, he moved to Chicago where he drove semi-truck for his uncle at Thompson Van Lines. He later was owner-operator for Trans American Truck Lines. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Gladys Thompson, Walcott; one brother, Gerald, Wyndmere; and two sisters, Mrs. Lyle (Helen) Cram, Woodridge, Va.; Mrs. Jack (Patricia) Eike, Carroll, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his father Ray in 1957 and an infant son.

Casket bearers will be Daryl Johnson, David Ehlers, Kermit Anderson, Duane Anderson, Warren C. Anderson and Donald Ewald. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. The Wyndmere American Legion will conduct military rites.
