Obituary

Harlan Arthur Thielke was born on March 4, 1934, in Stevens County near Morris, MN, to Alfred and Freda (Melchert) Thielke. He attended rural school and graduated from Morris Agriculture School, Morris, MN, and Interstate Business College, Fargo, ND. Harlan served in the United States Air Force from 1954-1957 and served in Germany. On September 10, 1961, he married Darlene Johnson in Enderlin, ND. The couple made their home in Wahpeton, where Harlan worked for Ro-Banks Tool and Manufacturing for 31 years. He retired in 1993. In his retirement, Harlan worked for the VFW, Daily News, and the Fairview Cemetery Association, all of Wahpeton. He also worked at Cenex, Breckenridge, MN.

Harlan was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, area Sportsman's Club, Terrace Lanes Hall of Fame, 40 et 8, a lifetime member of the Woody Keeble VFW Post No. 4324, and the Hafner-Miller-Ross American Legion Post No. 20. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and bowling, but his greatest pride was in his grandsons, Jake and Ty.

Harlan is survived by his wife of 47 years, Darlene, Wahpeton; sons, Blair Thielke, Lisbon, ND, and Ryan (Christi) Thielke, Moorhead, MN; grandsons, Jake and Ty Thielke, Moorhead, MN; his sister, Alfrieda (Merlin) Dornbush, Becker, MN; and brothers, Aldon (Bev) Thielke, Ennis, MT, Lesley Thielke, Anoka, MN, and Virgil (Jeannie) Thielke, Minneapolis, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Myron.
