Obituary
Irene Thorson
Irene Ulness Thorson, 80, Breckenridge, died Thursday, Nov. 11 at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge. The funeral will be at 11 Monday at Breckenridge Lutheran Church, Rev. Eugene Floistad and Rev. Julian Erickson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
Visitation begins at 3 Sunday continuing through the evening with a prayer service at 8 at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home Chapel, Breckenridge. There will also be visitation at the church for the hour prior to the service.
She was born July 5, 1902 at Elling and Maren (Borderud) Ulness at Kindred. As a child she moved with her parents to Davenport, N.D. where she grew up and attended schools. She married Lawson (Doc) Thorson July 15, 1926 at St. Cloud. They lived in Minneapolis moving to Breckenridge in 1933. He operated a barber shop until 1941 and then worked for the railroad. He died in 1979.
She was a charter member of the Breckenridge Lutheran Church and a member of the Railroad Trainmen's Auxiliary.
Survivors include two sons, Richard, Anoka, Minn.; John Cline, Battle Lake; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, a sister and a brother, Mrs. Asta Bramscher, Wauwatosa, Wis.; and Edwin Ulness, Tacoma, Wash.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers.
Casket bearers will be Loren Ehlert, Ronald Knudson, Lyle Wysocki, David Thorsen and Lawson and J.J. Cline.
