Obituary

Roy H. Unbreit, Wahpeton, formerly Great Bend

The funeral for Roy H. Umbreit, 76, Wahpeton, N.D., will be Saturday, March 27, at 1:30 p.m. at the Vertin-Munson Wahpeton Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Spahr officiating.

He died Thursday, March 24, 1994, at the Wahpeton Health Care Center.

Visitation will be today (Friday) from 3-7 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service, all at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Cemetery, Wahpeton.

Roy H. Umbreit was born April 3, 1917, near Great Bend, N.D., to Albert and Anna (Gripentrog) Umbreit. He grew up and attended rural schools near Great Bend. He married Florence Boldt on Oct. 10, 1940, in Hankinson, N.D. The couple lived and farmed in Summit Township near Great Bend until 1959, when they moved to Wahpeton. Roy worked for Schuler Grain and Wil-Rich Manufacturing in Wahpeton-Breckenridge before he started working for Northwest Sheet and Iron in Wahpeton where he worked until retirement in 1982. He continued to live in Wahpeton.

He was a member of Evergreen United Methodist church, Wahpeton. He enjoyed sharing his time with his family.

Roy is survived by his wife, Florence, Wahpeton; a daughter, Paulette; her husband, Robert Wade, Phoenix, Ariz.; a son, Keith Umbreit, Richfield, Minn.; two grandchildren, Tana and Kim Olson, and two great-grandchildren, Danielle and Kayla; two brothers, Loren Umbreit, Menomonee Falls, Wis.; Merrill Umbreit, East Troy, Wis.; three sisters, Mae Fenske, Edgewater, Fla.; Viola Wesch, Bellevue, Wash.; Pearl Leinen, Milwaukee, Wis.; nieces and nephews and a special family friend, Mike Merriman, Richfield, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, two brothers, Robert and Vernie Umbreit.
