Obituary
Irene M. Woodbury, 74, formerly Wahpeton
Irene M. Woodbury, 74, Payallup, Wash, formerly Wahpeton, N.D., died in her home Tuesday, Aug. 12, 1997. The funeral service will be Monday, Aug. 18, at 1 p.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, with Pastor K.W. Nyhusmoen officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
Irene M. Score was born July 11, 1923, at Walcott, N.D., to Joseph and Clara (Ulven) Score. She graduated from Christine High School. She was baptized and confirmed at Richland Lutheran Church, was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and, for the past few years, was a member of Pilgrim Lutheran Church, Puyallup.
She taught in rural schools until her marriage to Robert Woodbury. They lived in Newport, R.I., until he was discharged from the U.S. Navy. They then moved back to Wahpeton.
She was employed at the ASC office in Wahpeton for several years. When they retired, they moved to Puyallup.
Irene is survived by her husband, Bob; one daughter, Diane (Jeffrey) Spicer, Plantation, Fla.; one son, DuWayne (Denise), Puyallup; four brothers, James (Shirley), Dwight, N.D., Archie (Loree), Dwight, Eugene (Betty), Nipomo, Calif., and Richard (Shirley), Fargo; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Josephine (Andy) Quamme.
The family would like to request memorials be given to Bethel Lutheran Church.
Vertin-Munson Wahpeton Funeral Home is in charge of local arrangements.
