Obituary
Emma Wallis
The funeral for Mrs. Emma M. Wallis, 91, Wahpeton, was today (Monday) at United Church of Christ (Congregational), Wahpeton, Rev. Stephen Hanning officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton. She died Friday, Dec. 17, at the Wahpeton Health Care Center.
Honorary casket bearers were Calmer Carlson, Clifford Worner, Merle Hoppert, Glenn Hoppert, Bill Meyenburg, and Ray Chermak.
Active casket bearers were all grandsons, James, Robert, Richard, David, Paul and Mark Wallis.
She was born March 30, 1891 at Bruce, S.D., to Peter and Julia (Thorson) Bjornstad. She grew up and attended local schools at Bruce. She married Harry Wallis at Ellendale, N.D., in 1914. They lived there until 1936 when they moved to Wahpeton. He died Feb. 18, 1953. She continued to live in Wahpeton until the time of her death.
She was a member of the United Church of Christ (Congregational) the church Plymouth Circle, and the Rebekah Lodge.
Survivors include a son, Dale, Wahpeton; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and a brother, Lloyd Bjornstad, Mankato, Minn.
She was preceded in death by a son, a brother and two sisters.
