Albert E. Fanfare, former county register of deeds

The funeral for Albert E. Fanfare, 87, Wahpeton, N.D., will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 10, in Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton.

Visitation will be from 3-8 p.m. today (Sunday) with a prayer service at 7 p.m. at Vertin-Munson Wahpeton Funeral Home. He died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 1992.

Mr. Funfar was born March 17, 1904, in Lidgerwood, N.D., to Charles and Margrett (Miller) Funfar. He grew up and attended school in Lidgerwood. On Dec. 9, 1927, he married Agnes Ebel in Lidgerwood, where he worked as a finishing carpenter. In 1930 the couple moved to Wahpeton. From 1945-75 when he retired, Albert was the Richland County register of deeds. The couple continued to live in Wahpeton, the last couple of years at the Leach Home in Wahpeton.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, enjoyed flower gardening, and his special interest was fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Agnes, Wahpeton; two daughters, Beverly and her husband Paul Ferrell, Wahpeton; Jean and her husband Robert Vagts, rural Breckenridge; a sister, Ardella Johnson, Lidgerwood; eight grandchildren, Michael Ferrell, Wahpeton; Mark Ferrell, Fargo; Steve Ferrell, San Diego, Calif.; Jane Ellen (Mrs. Erik) Forgaard, Bloomington, Minn.; Jeff Vagts, Wahpeton; Jay Vagts, rural Breckenridge; Jan Vagts, Breckenridge; and Joel Vagts, rural Breckenridge; 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Edward, Adolph and Charley, and four sisters, Marion, Bessie, Emma and Christina.

Casketbearers will be his seven grandsons, Michael, Mark and Steve Ferrell and Jeff, Jay, Jan and Joel Vagts, and his grandson-in-law, Erik Forgaard.
