Edythe A. Mollerud

Edythe A. Mollerud, 88, Wahpeton, died Friday, Aug. 5, at the Wahpeton Health Care Center. The funeral was today at United Church of Christ (Congregational) Rev. William Van Dyken officiating. Burial was at Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton.

Casket bearers were C. Russell Ruppert, Frank Schledorn, Anthony Hanzlik, Daniel Moratz, Glenn Hoppert, and Irvin Kent.

She was born Jan. 2, 1895 to James and Annetta (Anderson) Purdon at Wahpeton. She was raised and attended school at Wahpeton. At an early age she was well-known for her horsemanship and worked in her father's general mercantile store.

She married Theodore A. Mollerud July 16, 1922 at Wahpeton. They lived here and also stayed at a summer cabin on Stuart Lake near Clitherall, Minn. He died Nov. 4, 1951. She continued to live at Wahpeton and her summer home until 1972 when she moved to the Wahpeton Health Care Center where she has since resided.

She was a member of United Church of Christ (Congregational) where she was a deaconess emeritus. She was a Gold Star mother. Her son, Earl, was killed in 1951 in action during the Korean Conflict. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Rebekah Lodge, and Eastern Star.

Survivors include six daughters and three sons, Mrs. C. Russell (Marian) Ruppert, Fargo; Mrs. Frank (Doris) Schledorn, Bozeman, Mont.; Mrs. Anthony (Peggy) Hanzlik, Bozeman; Mrs. Daniel (Betty) Moratz, Milwaukee; Mrs. LeRoy (Thelma) Lenz, Glenwood, Minn.; Mrs. Vivian Peterson, Sisseton, S.D.; Donald, Fergus Falls; Emery, Barnesville, Minn.; Marvin, Fargo; a sister, Florence Purdon, Wahpeton; 17 grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, two sisters and four brothers.
