Howard McCready
Howard McCready, 67, Breckenridge, died Saturday, Aug. 27, at Breckenridge. His funeral will be Tuesday at 2 at First Baptist Church, Breckenridge, with the Rev. David Cripe officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:30 at Joseph Vertin & sons Funeral Home. Visitation will continue at the funeral home Tuesday morning and at the church one hour prior to the service.
he was born April 10, 1916, a Cuba, N.D. He attended school at Finley, N.D., and later at Fairmount. He entered the U.S. Army in 1941, served as a truck driver in the European African Middle Eastern Theatre and received a bronze service arrowhead. In 1945 he was discharged and he returned to Fairmount.
He married Doris Peterson Oct. 10, 1955, at Campbell. The couple lived in the Wahpeton-Breckenridge area. He managed the Union Oil Station for 25 years, retiring in 1978.
He was a member of First Baptist Church, the Breckenridge American Legion Post 53 and the VFW.
Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Dawn, Milwaukee, Wis.; and a sister, Mrs. Olive (Maxine) Ohnstad, Webster, S.D.

The Garden of Prayer is located in the Memorial Gardens, which comprises the northern half of the cemetery.
