Dean Myers

November 5, 1954 — September 11, 2013

Dean Myers, 58, Wahpeton, ND, passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at his residence. The Funeral Service will be Tuesday, 11:00 am at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton, ND. Visitation will be Monday, from 5 PM to 7 PM at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, and one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, is in charge of arrangements.

Dean was born on November 5, 1954 in Webster, SD to Clyde and Laura (Bergstrom) Myers. He grew up and attended school in the Andover, SD area and graduated from Groton High School in 1973. He worked for various farmers in the area until he moved to Wahpeton to attend NDSCS for upholstery. He also worked for Robanks at that time.

Dean was united in marriage to Julie Dierks on June 17, 1989 at St. John's Catholic Church. Dean worked for D & E Machining until it closed. At that time, Dean and Julie started Pro Tec Machining and have owned and operated that business to the present day.

Dean was a member of the Wahpeton Buffalo Club and enjoyed the outdoors and animals, although he did like to hunt it was mainly to stock the freezer. He also rode motorcycle and liked to be with friends and family. Dean taught his daughter Laura to ice skate and was so dedicated to sharing this experience that he served as president of the Southern Valley Figure Skating Club for two years.

Dean is survived by his wife, Julie, Wahpeton, ND; his daughter, Laura (special friend, Cory Formaneck) Myers, Aberdeen, SD; his sisters, Marsha (Darwin) Peckham, Bristol, SD, Sandra (James) Willis, Ester, AK; his mother-in-law, Cecelia Dierks, Wahpeton; his brothers-in-law, John (Lorna) Dierks, Sauk Center, MN, Duane Dierks, Gillette, WY, Gary (Connie) Dierks, Frazee, MN; his sisters-in-law, Linda (Gene) Foley, Graceville, MN, Jane Myers, Roanoke, IN, many nieces and nephews; and two special dogs, Emma and Gabe.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Laura Myers; his father-in-law, Ervin Dierks, three half-sisters and a half-brother.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Rondo Weinkauf and all the other friends and family that have helped throughout this tragic time.
